Note: In our quest to find the most
convenient way to ferret out new articles, we currently favor using
Sherlock 2. Just enter a date [e.g., 8/6/01] and you get a list
of new and modified articles for that date, complete with one sentence
summaries of each article. Click on a link and go to the page without
needing to use a Back button to get back to the list. KB's Expert
Search yields similar results, but we like this approach better.
Give it a try.

Adobe Systems Inc. has released a
new update to Premiere 6, its digital video editing application.
The new version, 6.01, can be downloaded from Adobe's servers now.
With Premiere 6, you can prepare video for the
Web or output back to tape. It supports DV capture from FireWire-equipped
Macs and camcorders, features advanced tools for editing video,
and offers integration with other Adobe products.
Changes in Adobe Premiere 6.01 are listed as
follows:
- Performance improvements for better three-point
editing
- Performance improvements to the initial launch
of the program when using a real-time board with hardware filter
effects
- Video preview files are now preserved when
toggling audio tracks on and off
- Equal signs ("=") can now be used in a URL
in marker text without problems. Previously, any text after the
"=" was lost
- 14.985 clips can be handled in Premiere
- Pixel aspects are correctly stored in QuickTime
files
- The timecode offset field works for RS232/422
device control
- Drop-replacing transitions on the timeline
now correctly sets the direction. Previously the direction would
reset to the default
- Custom workspaces can be saved properly on
Japanese operating systems
- Corrects problem for Matrox RTMac. Previously
users of this system could not open record settings on the initial
attempt
- Corrects sync problems for users of Pinnacle
CineWave and Aurora Igniter, especially when crossing black (no
video) sections of the timeline
In order to make use of the 615K update, you'll
need to have Adobe Premiere 6.0 installed. Adobe notes that if you've
already applied an update to Premiere 6.0, you may encounter problems
using this update, which may necessitate reinstalling a fresh copy
from the Adobe Premiere 6.0 CD.
